When I first started reading about this study it really didn’t surprise me. Clearly adult actresses are completely comfortable with their own sexuality and they also have sex on a regular basis, so of course they have a high self esteem and a great quality of life!
While most people think that porn stars are just insecure hoes, this study proves otherwise! The Journal of Sex Research came up with the results that porn stars aren’t more prone to having psychological problems and that there not necessarily victims of sexual abuse, etc. They’re just like other women when it comes to their psychological well being.
In fact, it was concluded that those who work in the adult industry have a more positive outlook on life and a higher level of confidence when it comes to body image!
“In terms of psychological characteristics, porn actresses had higher levels of self-esteem, positive feelings, social support, sexual satisfaction and spirituality compared to the matched group,” the study summarized.
In the study, the researched compared 177 women from the age of 18-50 who were
actresses in the porn industry, to 177 women who weren’t in the porn industry. They asked about sexual behaviors, self esteem, quality of life and drug use.
Not only was it found that their quality of life and self esteem is higher, but also higher levels of spirituality, a fulfilling sex life, and better sleep cycles therefore more energy. As for drug use, it was found that it was more prevalent among the actresses. Another reason why they have a higher quality of life!
