D. Kingsley: First off Tiffany, tell us a little bit about you getting into the porn industry.  How did you initially find out about it and get interested in being a part of it?

Tiffany: I was actually working as an exotic dancer in San Francisco, and that made me really fall in love with the industry.  I just really loved the people.  I'd been probably dancing for about six months when my roommate moved out on me and I decided to move to LA. 

At the time I was still planning on just remaining an exotic dancer.  But I was living in LA and dancing in Vegas on the weekends, and it was just kind of a fluke.  I got bored, so, I was thinking, okay, I'm home in LA all day during the week, I'm just going to Vegas a couple days on the weekend to dance, maybe I'll do some promo modeling.  They have rental girls and that sort of thing. 

So, I put an ad up on a modeling website trying to find something like that and someone contacted me and asked me if I'd ever do nude modeling …"Oh yeah, of course, nude modeling, no big deal," it's just one step further than what I'm doing right now. 

The gentlemen was actually an adult talent agent, so he was trying to get me into nude modeling or maybe even into some girl girl scene work, and I was totally comfortable with that.  It just turned out that my very first scene was Danni's Hard Drive, where I met…Madison Scott and Hitomi Tanaka, and they plugged me in with Derek [Hay] of LA Direct Model.

DK: Along with meeting a very influential person like Derek Hay, who else did you meet in the beginning and do you consider anybody your mentors?

Tiffany: Well, actually I am no longer with LA Direct Models and Derek, we're still really good friends.  But he at that time had Bud Lee and Robert working for him who now operate 101 Modeling.  Bud Lee is a legend in the industry.  He's an amazing agent.  He actually used to take me on go sees where I met some of my first friends, and I was always really close to Bud.  He always pushed me and supported me, so, Bud is definitely my mentor and I'm very happy to be working with him four years later.

DK: Out there sometimes in the mainstream there's people who have negative ideas about the porn industry.  There's always ups and downs for all of us, but for you it sounds like everything was always even and pretty decent.  What are the major positives that you found out for you in the industry?

Tiffany: The industry really helped me grow sexually, which sounds crazy, because you'd think you'd have your own sexuality pretty much on lock when you get into the adult industry.  But that would be one pretty big surprise…I thought I was great at it, and I think on a very normal level for a 22-year-old girl, I probably was, but nowhere near the level you really have to be to perform in this industry. I'm 26 now, and year by year I've felt this huge awakening that I didn't even have when I first started.

I don't think I'd even be cognizant of it now at 26 that anything had changed, but you do certain things where your limits really get pushed too, in a good one.  So, you'll walk away from certain scenes and be like, wow, that was totally new, that was something I've never done before, that was really intense!  But it makes you grow as a person, it makes you grow as a performer, and it makes your sexuality blossom too. 

If I hadn't been in the industry I wouldn't have had quite that experience.  I really had a point about a year or a year and a half ago when I turned 25, that I just had a confidence about what I was doing that just changed the game.

DK: Along with the confidence, what else have you discovered about yourself in the last couple of years?

Tiffany: I've really matured in this industry, which sounds kind of crazy, because you wouldn't think that the porn industry would help you grow up, but that's really what it did for me.  I came in at 22 and I was a little 22-year-old party girl, I loved going out to bars and nightclubs, and I loosely wanted to go back to school but didn't really know what I wanted to do.  Porn kind of put me into a pressure cooker situation where I was working a job I loved and would love to do forever, but you have this shelf-life thing hanging over your head.  You know you can't do this forever, so it really taught me to prioritize, to really think about what was important to me. 

So, actually about a year ago I went back to school for a bachelor's degree.  I also realized that the real me, the person I was, was looking for things in bars and nightclubs, and really lame friends that I had when I was 21, 22, when I got into the industry, that just didn't care about me.  Now, people actually make fun of me because I'm a complete hermit.  I don't really go out at all.  But I just realized that it wasn't something that was important to me.  And it actually turns out not only was what I was doing not important to me, it wasn't who I even really was.

DK: During this time something pretty cool happened to you.  You actually started getting some gigs in the mainstream, especially with HBO and Cinemax.  Tell us a little bit about that experience and how you ended up getting those opportunities.

Tiffany: I love doing the soft-core movies!  Those are my absolute favorite, I wish that I could do a lot more of them.  I didn't actually realize that was even something that was a possibility when I got into the industry.  There's someone who does the casting for these soft-core movies for HBO and Cinemax, the late night ones, who somehow got plugged in with Derek. 

So, about four years ago he sent me on an audition to do a reading for this man, and he must have liked me because he booked me into a co-starring role in the first one.  And then I actually took a little break from the industry, and when I came back in a couple years ago it was the first thing I did coming back, and they gave me another co-starring role.

So, those are actually really cool days on set because they're completely different then being on a porn set.  It's almost like, I assume it's similar to being on a sitcom.  They're really cool people who do them.  I actually am friends with the guy who does the craft services. Whenever I'm on a soft core set you can find me by the food.

DK: You also discovered yoga!  Tell us about the specific type of yoga that you practice.  And I also read that you want to get certified as well?

Tiffany: I do.  Yoga has been so cool for me.  I got into yoga when I was in porn.  There were a couple girls who were really into Bikram yoga and they had always talked about how amazing it was.  The girls I'm thinking of were actually girls who you were like, you do yoga, what?  You couldn't see these girls doing it. 

The first time I tried it was when I had this really, really trying day with this guy I was dating.  I just picked myself up and walked out the door.  I actually went to an Al-Anon meeting because he was an addict.  So, I brought myself there and I spent some time with these women and took an hour for myself in one of these meetings, and then I walked out the door and immediately went to a Bikram yoga class and took my first Bikram yoga class. 

I think at the time I just wanted to spend an entire day just taking care of me.  But I fell in love with Bikram because it's just crazy.  It's an hour and a half in a 105 degree room doing all of these crazy positions.  I don't know if it's from the water loss, or if it's actually these detoxifying agents that they talk about, but you get this endorphin rush when you leave.  It's amazing. 

That really opened me up to the practice of yoga which I've been kind of playing with.  Now I actually prefer a slightly more spiritual based yoga than Bikram, but like I was talking about earlier, at some point I know that I'm not going to be able to just perform porn into my fifties.  I mean, it would be great if somebody would watch me do porn at that point but I doubt it.

DK: Have you translated that kind of passion to your coworkers and friends within the industry?  If so, is there an example of somebody else that you know who is benefiting from yoga?

Tiffany: I try to drag a lot of girls with me to yoga.  It actually turns out that there is a large group of girls that already practice.  I either run into girls who are interested, or more often I'll start talking to a girl and they're complete yoga junkies too.

DK: Really?

Tiffany: I actually made a lot of my friends that way.

DK: In your yoga practices you already said it gives you a kind of clear mind, but now in a perspective of going into a scene, give us an example of how yoga helps you to focus.

Tiffany: I don't think yoga really transfers over to porn for me.  I'm sure it does on a subconscious level.  It's definitely made me more flexible and calmer, but I've actually really always loved doing my scenes.  I'm probably the most clear-headed and normal. 

I forgot about this, but this is what I used to say about what drove me to do adult, and that was that I'm a very highly anxious person.  I have really bad anxiety, I talk really fast, and I'm just really high strung, and when I was dancing and when I started performing it was one of the only times I ever felt normal.  It was like this feels right, this feels normal, I'm calm, I'm happy, this is what I'm supposed to be doing. 

But what yoga has given me is tools to then work with the rest of my life.  I actually just tried Kundalini yoga for the first time, which was a little too spiritual and meditative for me.  It's a lot of chanting and stuff and I walked out of the class not really liking it, having these mantras and Sanskrits the whole time, and then I was actually driving to set, and just getting out of my car and getting to set where I can be happy and normal is a trying process in Los Angeles. 

You have to sit in traffic, someone's going to flip you off, you're going to almost hit a car getting out of your teenie tiny parking spot, and by the time I got to the off-ramp I was about to lose it, and that was when that mantra that they'd been teaching us just a couple days before in this Kundalini yoga class popped into my head.  I can't even remember what it was and I definitely don't remember what it means--this was probably about a month ago--but I instantly calmed down. 

It was like something had subconsciously from all that chanting got into my brain and it came back right at the exact moment when I was stuck in traffic, going around an off-ramp ready to scream.  So, it was kind of cool because it was almost like, oh, okay, maybe I should try this Kundalini thing again.

DK: Switching gears, you've also been on the cover of very well known and popular magazines including Hustler and Cheri.  Tell us how those experiences were, how you liked being in print, and also about your time with Holly Randall.

Tiffany: I love Holly! If I could just shoot with Holly every single day I would be in heaven.  She is amazing.  We actually shot the pictures that were on the cover of Cheri magazine…It was my first time working with her.  This was about four years ago. 

She tweeted that she was going to be doing some content shoots in Vegas during AVN, and for people who don't know what a content shoot is, it's basically where a photographer or even a videographer will trade their video and photo shooting and editing skills.  As talent all you have to do is show up and then you can get a copy of it.  Then you can use the photos, for me it was to start building up my website. 

And for other little things that might come up.  A lot of times you need photos that they have rights to and the only real way that you know you really have the rights is if the girl herself owns them, or at least has access to it. 

So, I really wanted to shoot content with Holly Randall because she's one of the best photographers if not the best in the entire business.  It was a little different of a day for her because she was trying something different than she'd ever done with lighting.  We ended up in that bathroom, and to this day I think that is the most complimented photos I've ever had taken of me. 

I'm actually really bummed because when I got my breasts done I couldn't use all those photos for everything like I used to.  But I loved them.  And I actually just found out- I knew I was in Cheri magazine but I didn't know I was on the cover.  A week ago someone was like, oh, I just picked up your Cheri magazine cover.

DK: One of your favorite shoots is foot fetish.  Is that true?

Tiffany: It is. I actually hated my feet when I got into porn.  I think a lot of girls aren't super fans of their feet because it's not the way women are wired.  I'm taller, I'm 5'8'', and I have size 9 feet, so I always thought my feet were just really big and I guess they can just stay down there, stay away from everyone, whatever.

Now that I'm a little older most of my friends are about as gadget oriented as I am.  It's not like I sit around and read instruction manuals, it's not like that.  It's just that I buy something, I take it out of the box, and I read the instruction manual cover to cover before putting it together.  I want to know how my gadgets work and I feel very strongly about reading instructions…I just don't understand why people don't read instructions!

DK: You also have a very interesting tattoo.  Can you tell us a little bit about that and the meaning behind your tattoo?

Tiffany: Yeah, I'm guessing you're talking about the one on my neck?

DK: Yes.

Tiffany: It's Hebrew lettering that technically says One Life to Live, which apparently was a soap opera.  So, I've been telling people that it means You Only Live Once.  The only person I've ever met who--it turns out that there's a character that turned a quarter degree, or a quarter turn--and I don't read Hebrew myself, I had to go to a Jewish center in San Francisco and talk them into helping me translate what I wanted it to say, so I could then go get a tattoo. 

But James Dean can actually read my neck including the turned the character.  He's the only person I've ever met who could just go, oh, I know what that means.  But, yeah, I had just moved to LA, and my buddy from Sacramento who had helped me move down here and I wanted to go check out Venice for the day, and I'd been thinking for awhile about maybe getting it done. 

I'd already translated the words and had the picture I wanted stuck in my wallet, I just hadn't found a place.  We were walking down Venice Beach and there were all of those tattoo shops, and I was like, oh, let's run in, I want to get a tattoo to kind of commemorate my big move to LA. 

I moved to LA, by the way, not knowing a soul.  Sight unseen I moved into my apartment with four girl's I'd never met that I met on Craigslist, and sent them my rent check.  So, it was a really big move for me in being little miss independent.  So, my buddy and I ran into this tattoo shop and got it tattooed.

DK: What's your ultimate fantasy?  Sexual fantasy?

Tiffany: I'm pretty normal.  For what I'd actually do, I've done it.  When I was younger I always fantasized about having two guys at the same time, and then I got booked for a boy-boy-girl, and I realized it was a complete pain in the ass.  Somehow I was doing all the work and it was much less them doing all the work, which is what I was hoping for.

Tiffany: I've actually been trying to get better about branding and marketing.  I've always been pretty good at the marketing, but not so good at the branding.  I've just been me, which I think is probably what's made me so popular, because I've noticed that I might have the same amount of fans, but my fans have always kind of gotten to know me because I'm not putting a brand out there. 

I'm not putting out, oh, I'm the dirty girl, I'm not putting out, oh, I'm the smart girl, I'm just putting out, I'm me and this is what I'm up to.  I think they really like that authenticity.  I can tell when I look at other girls when they're trying to push a brand and when they're just pushing themselves.  Both strategies can sometimes work really well and sometimes both strategies can flop. 

It's also partially laziness.  It's easier for me to float through and just be me and hope people like it then to have to come up with an entire marketing brand or image that I didn't want to push 100% of the time.  But I've actually always been pretty good at marketing myself just because I like talking to people.  I got into this industry because I liked the people in it and I wanted to work with them on a daily basis. 

I love my social networking! I think partially too because I'm just really sharing my real self.  I like sharing parts of my life with my fans, and the other people in the industry via Twitter or Facebook or my blog, or writing columns for AIP Daily, whatever it is.  I know that really helps with the actual marketing aspect.

DK:  Is there something else people out there don't know about you?

Tiffany: I'm pretty much an open book.  I was going to say, I'm a horseback rider and that's where I spend most of my free time and energy at the barn.  But I actually think most people already know that because I tweet about it all the time.  I've been riding horses since I was a little girl, and it's part of my moves in to LA.  I've always needed to move to within driving distance of the barn.  I tried to move out to Hollywood once, I was like how am I going to get to the barn from here?
