Cameron Bay And Rod Daily Call For Mandatory Condom Use
The porn star couple who were both infected with HIV have spoken out on the industry and wants producers to make condom use mandatory for all American productions.
Cameron Bay and Rod Daily made their infection publicly known, causing an industry wide moratorium across the country. Since then another two actors have been diagnosed HIV Positive. The couple was joined on stage at a AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) event by Patrick Stone, the third diagnosed case while the fourth who’s identity is being withheld spoke from a phone.
Bay and Daily together spoke up on the mistreatment and misrepresentation that is happening within the adult industry. Daily said,
“Ultimately, it’s a business, and their main concern is money and not their performers.”
Bay went on to say,
“When something happens, it kind of falls off and you don’t really mean much, except that you’re a liability to them and their money making… …I learned there’s always someone younger and sexier, willing to do something you’re not, I think we need more choices because of that. Condoms should be a choice.”
Meanwhile AHF President Michael Weinstein spoke up saying,
“We’ve got to stop taking medical advice from pornographers. We have a public health system in this country that is supposed to protect us against disease… …Four performers stepping forward in this very heated environment – it takes an enormous amount of courage.”
The moratorium was lifted 14 days after the last HIV case was reported. The Free Speech Coalition, the adult industry’s trade association, has changed standard testing dates to every 14 days compared to the 28 it was at before.
