LA Porn Producers Must Now Show Public Health Permits
As Los Angeles County’s new ‘Measure B‘ law begins implementation, the Los Angeles City Counsel voted to amend the ordinance governing adult film permits so it states that only producers who can provide a public health permit will be issued a filming permit. They also took a second separate vote to instruct city officials to prepare a motion to adopt the provisions in Measure B.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) who spearheaded the measure are pleased, and their president had this to say:
“We thank City Council for their unanimous vote to formally tie the distribution of adult film permits issued by the City to those producers who also show proof of holding a County public health permit, as required under County Measure B. Today’s vote directs the City Attorney to amend its own adult film permitting ordinance and prepare a new ordinance for a final vote in the future, although an exact time was not stipulated. A separate vote was also taken to instruct City officials to prepare a motion to adopt the provisions in County Measure B, the condoms in porn measure. These actions bring us a step closer to getting the City and County measures fully up and running and should go a long way improve health and safety among adult film performers.”
This will come as yet another big hit against the LA area studios. As ‘Measure B’ is forcing performers to wear condoms during sex, the adult industry says it is a total violation of the 1st amendment of the US Constitution and have since decided to sue Los Angeles County in a lawsuit filed just last week.
