Pornstar Katie Summers Sues Buttman Over HIV Positive Status
It’s been reported by TMZ that in a lawsuit filed at the L.A. Superior Court, Katie Summers (whose real name is Katherine Howard), is suing Buttman (whose real name is John Stagliano) for negligence and sexual battery. This stems from that fact that Buttman has been HIV positive since 1997, and that he (allegedly) did not disclose his status to Katie during a shoot they performed in together in 2009.
This sounds bad of course. Did Buttman give Katie Summers HIV? Not exactly, our sources have discovered. In fact, Katie and Buttman didn’t have sex on film – their scene was simply directed by Buttman, and he handed her sex toys for genital use and touched her ass, as is quite common in solo porn scenes. What he didn’t do is anything that could have caused Katie Summers to become HIV positive herself.
The lawsuit doesn’t simply target Mr. Stagliano, but also Evil Angel, which is Mr. Stagliano’s production company. So why is Katie Summers, who by every indication is a successful pornstar, suing Buttman nearly 5 years after the fact? We can only speculate, but here are our best guesses:
1) Katie Summers needs the money. Sure, everyone needs the money, but to sue a company that’s already paid you for your services is low. Perhaps there’s a drug problem behind all this?
2) Katie Summers is HIV positive and looking for someone to blame. We don’t have any evidence that this is the case, but it’s a strong possibility. Katie works as an escort, and she participates in dangerous sexual activities like anal sex. So you never know what she could have picked up on her travels.
3) Katie Summers is looking for attention. This story has received mainstream media attention, so this is a good possibility too. Katie’s star can only rise with the exposure the lawsuit is getting, despite the fact that it’s a longshot to net her any money.
In fact, Orgasm News is willing to go on record and predict that this case will get thrown out of court immediately. But we do love Katie Summers and would love to hear her side of the story. So we invite her to contact us at [email protected] to share her side of the story! After all, we’re all innocent until proven guilty – even Buttman, as much as his name may mystify us.
