Orgasm News Interviews James Bartholet: Part 3

Orgasm News’ Dave Kingsley continues to talk to James Bartholet who has recently been nominated for best actor at the XBIZ awards. In this portion of the interview, James discusses his career in radio as well as being a spokesman! Part 1 and Part 2 of the interview are available, so if you’ve missed them, be sure to check them out.

James is the new spokesman for Reload

Another great thing that you might want to have on to my story here, is I am now the new spokesman for Reload Male Enhancement product. That’s being held by the very talented Mr. Mike Kulich who owns Monarchy Distribution, and he has all those great studios…Mike has got this male enhancement product it took a couple of years to get it developed, and get the right formula put together for this thing.

It’s an herbal supplement, and it really, really works. We kicked it off at the AEN in Las Vegas back in September. It’s doing really good. There are stores all across United States that are picking it up. We’re starting this big campaign with me as a spokesman for this product.

James Bartholet with ReloadWe’ve even got a female version of that coming out really soon. This is like a really cool thing to be a spokesperson for a male enhancement product. That’s kind of cool, and the product, really, really works. It does. The best thing about that is you can use it while you’ve maybe been drinking that night.

A lot of times when you use the other product, and you have a drink, it counteracts it—it doesn’t work as well. But this one…you’ll be able to get hard. It doesn’t make you rock hard for hours, and hours, and hours. But it helps you to get aroused and get hard, which is what it’s all about. That commercial that says if you have an erection that lasts more than four hours, contact a doctor…

Well the girls are always over here at the house. That commercial comes on, and they go, “Fuck. If I get an erection that lasts more than four hours, I’m not going to call my doctor, I’m going to the girls and have a party. Yes baby.”

James talks about the start of his radio career

I’ve stated earlier, I started doing radio actually when I was in high school up in Northern California. We were watching Monty Python things, we had some little school radio show. We would talk and give news, “OK. There’s a pep rally after school,” and then we’d play some music… Led Zeppelin and Bachman-Turner Overdrive…Kansas, and Journey, right?

I would put on these Monty Python skits on. This is fairly over everybody’s head because this is when Python first invaded United States. Unless you were sophisticated enough, humor-wise, to appreciate that humor, a lot of those jokes would just go on everybody’s head. But I realized that radio was a really cool thing to do, and I have a voice for radio. Some people say, “Well. You have a face for radio. Ha ha ha.”

No. [laughs] But I have this voice for radio, and you can tell, I like to talk. I contacted some local radio stations out there. I started working as an intern, and I started learning very thing about it. I learned everything sales, to manning the switchboard, to being a technician, and taking the calls, and then actually becoming that radio person.

I wanted to be that person on the air that was spinning the music. We were telling the people, “OK. That was Stevie Nicks with Fleetwood Mac, with Gypsy. Now, coming up next, we’ve got Barry White.” I started doing all of these things stations. I moved to Los Angeles. I started doing radio big time down here, and I worked for some major, major radio stations down here in Southern California.

The start of L.A Nightlife

I was doing the entertainment news. Back then, I had a show that I created, called L.A. Nightlife, which was like a… It was show that… I went to nightclubs all over the country. I went to nightclubs everywhere. I even went to nightclubs in other countries. I would cover the nightlife stuff.

I started interviewing the celebrities. I had… God, back in the day, I had the cast of ‘Married with Children’ on the show, I remember one time, that was a good show. I would have friends of mine that were great musicians like Herbie Hancock…Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, I’ve interviewed, Journey, Kansas, my friend, Vince Neil from Motley Crue.

Bartholet smilingI remember I did a big show with No Doubt when they first started. I was working with them, and I used to go see them perform down in Orange County when they were just a little garage band. Then they blew up, and they became very, very famous as you know. I’ve had some really, really incredible interviews. But the L.A. Nightlife thing ran its course, and I get all of that. I got into the adult industry. I created a show called ‘Inside the Industry’.

We do have mainstream guests on every once in a while. A couple of months ago, I had an old friend of mine, Billy Vera from Billy Vera and the Beaters. He had that song, “At this Moment.” He’s a wonderful guy and a real music enthusiast, like the old blues and R&B singers. He came on, and I’d has some adult film stars on.

He was so impressed that we knew about all of these people like John Lee Hooker, and Etta James, and people like that. I go, “Yes. We don’t sit around and just watch porn movies all the time, and smoke cigarettes, and drink alcohol, and just wait to do the next porn movie. I mean, we all have lives…and we appreciate this music. Billy has been on, and all of these wonderful people. I’ve found the formula that really works. People love the adult industry. Why do people go to this website that I’m being interviewed for right now? Because they love ‘triple-X’, don’t they?

Inside the Industry Radio Show

You have a huge fan base for your site. I have a huge fan base for this radio program. I was doing shows at KLSX, that was doing the lead-in for Stern and stuff like that. I was seeing that people loved it when we got a little raunchy. People like that. I’ve shopped around, and I found the L.A. Talk Radio people, and it’s Internet radio.

At first, I was like, “Oh well. Maybe I should just keep trying to do this Sirius and XM thing, like Playboy radio or something like that.” Then I was like, “Wait a minute. Have I really looked at this?” There are more people that are downloading the apps or going onto the Internet and listening to radio and stuff on the Internet.

Plus, the beauty of this is, there’s an archive section. We have the iTunes. People may not be listening live, they can then turn around and they can listen to the show in the archive.

The reason Inside the Industry is successful

We’ve got tens of thousands of listeners every week. The show is very, very big. We’ve got sponsors. More and more new advertisers and sponsors come on every month. We’ve picked up more and more fans. All of the responses that I get, “Wow. What a really great show.”

All of the porn stars are here. I can listen to my favorite porn star, find out about them, and see this interview with them. This is really, really cool. Wow. I really like this.”

We found a formula that works. Keep it light. Keep it informative, but keep it fun, and keep it sexy. I have these great, little gals that are in there with me every week, and my cute, little co-hosts, and some sexy girls. Some pretty wild stuff goes over there, obviously. Since this is the adult industry, you know?

It’s decided that we’ve got to expand and maybe do a webcam version of this, or have a webcam going while we’re doing the radio show because people go to the chatroom, and they’re like, “Wow. I hear you squeezing that girl’s boob,” well, you can’t hear a boob squeezed.

You know what I’m saying. They said, “How? I’d love to see that!” I go, “OK. Well, we’ve got to expand on this.” As usual, as James Barthelot, I like to keep things evolving. That’s what you have to do. You have to keep evolving. We want to take that on to the next level.

It’s all about the Fans!

I love doing the radio. I think I’ll always do radio. There’s wonderful talk radio out there in the world. A lot of people with their views and stuff. I don’t want to talk myself the whole time. I like to let my guests have some time to talk, of course, and pitch, and talk about whatever the topic is or plug in their new projects.

We also love to have our listeners call in. I know this happens in a lot of shows. They let the listener just call in and ask a question, and then they cut him off. A lot of times we keep the caller on the phone there for a minute. You know, like, “Well. What do you think about this caller?” They’re like, “Oh my god. You really care about what I have to say? Oh wow. That’s really cool.”

If you listen to my show, we have people that would just call in religiously every week. This one guy that calls in from back East, and we have another guy that calls in from the West Coast. This guy is like, he takes time out from his work, and he takes his break during our show. He has his lunch/dinner break during the show…and he calls in.

This is his big thing of the week, he gets to talk to the girls on the show. He gets to talk to that celebrity, that famous adult film star, or director, or producer, or mainstream musician, or star. And they get to talk to them live. That’s really cool. I think that’s an important thing, is don’t alienate out your audience…don’t be just a talking head.
