Orgasm.com Interviews Seka

In her day, Seka was one of the marquee names in the adult industry and one of the first pornstars to garner international recognition. Her strong attitude, coupled with her desire to break into adult films because she legitimately enjoyed the business (not because she had to) has attracted throngs of loyal fans throughout her storied career. As the first true platinum blonde in porn, Seka has survived multiple medium changes in the industry, yet thrived during periods where VHS was the dominant film format.

Recently, Seka has been in the news again, starring in the new documentary After Porn Ends, and she was kind enough to speak to Orgasm.com by phone.

Seka became involved in the film because… “It had to do with life after porn. I don’t do magazines or films anymore. It seemed to me, at the time, the film was positive towards the adult industry.” Despite being away from making movies since the 1990s, Seka has kept in touch with some of porn contemporaries including Randy West and Nina Hartley (who both appear in After Porn Ends), Gina Spelvin, and Vanessa Del Rio to name a few.

Although Seka is retired, she’s Internet savvy and utilizes twitter among other platforms to stay in touch with her fans. She also maintains Seka.com, a website that caters to fans who yearn for the golden days of porn. Despite this Seka believes that the Internet “…has killed the industry. Everyone is giving it away for free. It’s easy to plagiarize and bootleg. Although I love the net, I don’t think it was the best thing for porn.”

There was something special about the era when Seka made porn. She explains that the industry has changed drastically: “There are too many girls and guys that look alike. When I made movies they had a beginning, a middle and an ending, and they had a reason why we took our cloths off.”

After Porn Ends was a good experience for Seka. She notes: “[They were] very accommodating. I’m sometimes tagged as a bitch because I won’t settle for less than what I expect. I won’t do something if I don’t really want to do it. It was very pleasant and respectful. A very cool experience.”

Furthermore, Seka is one of those rare stars who feels totally comfortable with the choices she’s made (including getting into porn). After Porn Ends features several pornstars that were never comfortable in front of the camera, including Chrissy Moran and Shelley Lubban. In Lubban’s case she felt like she was exploited and has dedicated her life to crusading as an anti-porn advocate.

For Seka, she loved what she did and has no regrets. “I got paid for doing what I liked. [Furthermore] I was never forced into the business. I’ve always been behind the industry. I knew full well what I was getting into.” Before entering the industry, Seka owned 7 adult bookstores and knew porn very well. She not only enjoyed being part of it, but she also became a legend in the process cementing her legacy as a performer who believed that she could transform the industry with her striking looks and savvy business sense.

After Porn Ends adds to Seka’s legacy as a source of inspiration and tenacious member of a community that is sometimes brutally unforgiving. Check out our interview with Raylene from earlier in the week, and pick up After Porn Ends on DVD today!
