New Jersey Mom unwittingly becomes linked to porn sites
Recently, a New Jersey mom who appeared in an instructional breast-feeding video a few years ago was shocked to find out the snippet was being used by a porn site.
“I didn’t get paid to do this. I didn’t want to be some sort of celebrity,” said Mary Ann Sahoury, 35. “I did this to help other moms.”
Back in 2009 when Sahoury’s gave birth to her daughter, she had some difficulty nursing her child. As a result, she went to a lactation consultant. Forwarding a few weeks, the expert asked Sahoury if she wanted to be part of an instructional video which would document her experiences as well as nursing techniques.
A federal judge in New Jersey recently ruled that the lawsuit Sahoury filed against Meredith Corporation, the company, which made the video, could continue.
Sahoury found out about the matter when she Googled her name in 2010 and was shocked to find out her name and her daughter’s name were connected to porn sites.
Despite this, Sahoury notes in her lawsuit, that Meredith Corporation verbally told her that her full name wouldn’t be used in the video. Meredith Corporation on the other hand claims Sahoury signed a release giving the company use of her “Image, voice and name.” Meredith Corporation with its lawyers continues to try and take appropriate measures to take down the video from misused sources.
As for Sahoury, she prays that her situation will increase awareness for Internet safety.
