Go Daddy Sued For Hosting Texas Based ‘Revenge Porn’ Website
A class action lawsuit has been filed for 23 women from across the state of Texas against the new ‘Revenge Porn’ website Texxxan.com and it’s web hosting affiliate, Go Daddy.
Texxxan.com is a site which allows users to upload pornography type images of ex boyfriends and girlfriends from across the state and allow others to vote. The photos are usually quite sexually revealing and often display personal information as well. The term ‘Revenge Porn’ was coined after website ‘IsAnyoneUp.com’ and creator Hunter Moore started the trend of releasing sensitive photos and information to the public to embarrass and disgrace past lovers as an act of revenge for relationships gone sour.
The lawsuit against Texxxan.com began as Hollie Toups first came forward after she found images of herself on the website. Since then, numerous other women from across the state have joined her in battle against the site. The majority of women do not know how their image was uploaded to the site, but the rest suspect an ex lover.
The Texas based website went into ‘Members Only’ mode after receiving ‘extremely large amounts of traffic’, however, as of writing this, the website is still up and running. The disclaimer on the website ran a poll stating:
We want the public to make the decision on what should happen with TEXXXAN.COM because the public has made the site what it is today and without them this site would simply be an empty platform. SO GIVE US YOUR OPINION!! DO YOU WANT TEXXXAN.COM TO RELAUNCH AS NORMAL WITH WIDE OPEN ACCESS AT 9:30 TONIGHT OR SHOULD THE SITE BE KILLED?
The poll received a 87% rate for approval of relaunch.
