Despite the hardcore moral standards of many Islamic countries, porn sites are very popular destinations for Internet users in countries like Egypt, Tunisia, and Lebanon.

It is also a known fact that pornography is banned in Islamic countries like Egypt. But it isn’t stopping many viewers from checking out porn.

In a 2011 MSNBC interview, Vivid CEO Steven Hirsch said: “Nothing could stop Prohibition [in the U.S.], so there is no way that they are ever going to be able to do anything that will stop access to the Internet, and along with that access comes adult entertainment…Maybe they can stop it for a period of time, but long-term I just don’t see any way.”

And Hirsch may be right. Judging from numbers compiled by Alexa.com, several porn sites topped the 100 most popular sites in Egypt and Lebanon as well as Tunisia. And in Egypt, two porn sites cracked the top 25 most visited.
