Porn Stars Party At Fundraiser Supporting ‘No On Measure B”
A ‘No on Measure B’ Fundraiser held by The Free Speech Coalition this past Monday brought out many people from the adult industry including adult film stars Amber Lynn and Phil Varone.
Held at West Hollywood’s Mary’s Hamburger, the event was to make aware the dangers of Measure B which would make it mandatory for adult performers in Los Angeles to wear condoms.
Mara Epstein, board member for the Free Speech Coalition, said to XBIZ, “It’s very important for every industry member to know that this is not only about condoms; it’s about dental dams, goggles and more.”
The No On Government Waste Committee, which helped organize the event, has been rallying to get Measure B stuck down. In September porn star Steven St. Croix was part of an awareness campaign for the Committee via several video addresses.
Bill Marigold, an adult industry veteran told XBIZ, “We deal with the reality of human sexuality, and I don’t believe we should be told we can’t perform without condoms. There is nothing worse than seeing sex with a condom.”
Marigold continued: “It is basically slapping you in the face with reality and almost the fear of sex because each time you see it you start worrying why that person is wearing them.”
The LA Adult industry hopes to continue their awareness through fundraisers like this one and campaigns in order to get people talking about this issue.
