Orgasm News Interviews Lea Lexis
Dave Kingsley: Congratulations on your 5 AVN award nominations! You continue to be one of the most recognized performers today. What can you attribute to your popularity?
Lea Lexis: Thank you. I don’t think that I can pinpoint what got me here. My awesomeness? [Laughs] All jokes aside, I am grateful that my hard work and passion translates on camera and that my viewers appreciate it.
DK: What attracted you to the adult industry?
Lea: It started as simple curiosity, but I rapidly became fascinated by the impact the women had on men, so sexual… so desirable… so commanding. I wanted to find that in myself—and now it has expanded to a level that is almost addictive.
DK: Before becoming a porn star you were a gymnast, can you tell us a bit about that experience?
Lea: If it wasn’t for that very strict, army-like environment I probably wouldn’t be the competitive control freak rebel that I am today.
DK: How has being a gymnast helped your career in porn?
Lea: Well, I guess it gave me that extra “little something “ that I needed to get myself noticed. Some girls have big boobs, some girls have crazy long legs… I can have sex upside down while in the splits [Laughs]; being a gymnast hasn’t stopped being fun since I was 4 years old.
DK: You’re known for your intensity when doing shoots. What inspires you when filming?
Lea: I am not the “vanilla”-type girl and I never really was. My high school boyfriend can definitely sign on that! Sexual energy for me is very strong and it is like that whether I am filming or not.
DK: How did you come up with your porn star name?
Lea: When I started shooting my first movies, I never really looked at porn as a career for me. I was more attracted to the experience-part-of-it and not the business side, so when I was asked what stage name I wanted I was very unprepared.
One of the actors on set started to say some names, girls that I look like. It’s all a blur really, but I remember I liked the sound of Lea Lexus. Less than one year later I was forced to change it due to conflicts with the car company. I didn’t want to confuse my fans with a big name change, so here I am– Lea Lexis!
DK: Can you tell us about some of the projects you’re working on at the moment?
Lea: I will be working again with John Stagliano on season 2 and 3 of Voracious. I am very happy that I will once more have the opportunity to work in front of the camera and behind it.
From make-up to costumes, co-producing and all that fun stuff. Also, this year I am finally launching my fetish line/online store. The kinky creative side of me is growing and I am ready to share it with the world!
DK: What was the first scene you filmed? Was it a positive experience?
Lea: I remember everything about it and it always makes me smile (I was so innocent.) It was a tiny scene. Pigtails, white polka dots bra and panties… and I felt it ended too fast. It was a great experience and it left me curious to discover more.
DK: Who are the porn stars that you admire? Why?
Lea: I don’t really have one porn star that admire. There are a lot of people I admire for different qualities in this industry. Contrary to popular belief I have met quite a few smart, educated, inspiring people. I try to take the best out of each one.
DK: Have there been any porn stars that you particularly enjoyed working with? Why?
Lea: There are a few performers with whom I have worked with for many years and we have a certain intimacy in our scenes like Mick Blue, Erik Everhard… or a new yummy surprise like Angela Summers. The first time we worked together was just delicious!
DK: How was your experience being in Voracious?
Lea: It is the most exciting movie I’ve done yet. The people that I’ve worked with and my involvement into this project allowed me to put different sides of my personality into it and I simply can’t wait for the second season.
DK: One of your AVN nominations includes best screenplay for Voracious. That’s a pretty big honor. Do you consider writing as one of your creative outlets?
Lea: I never really saw myself as a writer, especially in English which is not my native tongue. I have to give John Stagliano credit for this. He is such an inspiring man to work with and he built the creative environment in which I could voice my ideas.
DK: Along with writing, do you have any other creative outlets?
Lea: Here is the part of the interview where I can really brag! [Laughs] Every chance that I get to create something I do it. I’ve been designing and making my own clothes since I was 7. Since then, I have created numerous outfits for movie and events and coming soon, my fetish clothing line (unique latex and leather clothing).
I’ve been working as a professional make-up artist for about 4 years now and recently branched out into special effects make-up.
A quiet weekend turned into me going to Home Depot and building a new TV stand and now, every time I find weird crazy things to make, cut or build I do it. Safe to say, I don’t really spend a lot of time with friends.
DK: You moved to LA from Europe a few years ago. How was the transition?
Lea: I am pretty much used to traveling and moving from place to place. I was born in Romania, but always traveled with the gymnastics team to competitions. I moved to Hungary-Budapest for almost 3 years… and so on. It was fun because there were a lot of exciting things waiting for me here.
DK: What are the major differences between the porn industry in Europe and the one in the United States?
Lea: The industry in the United States seems to be more inclined to build stars into “contract girls:” feature dancing and the fans are more dedicated towards one porn star rather than a whole company or niche.
DK: What’s the craziest sexual misadventure you have ever been a part of?
Lea: A few years ago Kink.com came to shoot in Europe and on their very first shoot, a public sex themed scene, we got arrested. We were doing some light bondage (no sex) in one of the towers of Fisherman’s Bastion in Budapest. When we were done, the police were waiting for us. We got off fairly easy: a $50 fine for shooting without a permit, but it was very scary for a moment.
DK: What is a celebrity or porn star that you would love to have sex with? Why?
Lea: I don’t really fantasize about celebrities because we all know they are a bit fucked up! [Laughs] but I don’t think I would say no to Jon Hamm or Jason Statham. I like classy men with a little bit of arrogance that I can break down.
DK: You have noted that watching porn for the first time was a life-changing experience? Do you remember the first porn film that you watched? And how did it inspire you to get into porn?
Lea: There were a lot of late night scenes on TV or on my computer and I remember always fast-forwarding to the really intense parts.
DK: What would your ultimate sexual fantasy be? Can you tell us about it?
Lea: I feel I have talked so much about it that someone needs to make it happen already! In the middle of the night, on the stairs of a courthouse. There are a lot of psychological interpretations on this fantasy, but to keep it short I want to break all the rules of this world! [Laughs]
DK: What is your favorite sex position and why?
Lea: They depend a lot on my partner. Sometimes it’s very interesting to have sex while in the splits. Everything gets tighter, blood flow gets intensified and orgasms are stronger.
DK: Can you describe what a perfect date for you would be like?
Lea: It would need to pleasantly surprise me. I hate clichés and I’m definitely not the kind of girl that would take walks on the beach in a summer dress and kiss in slow motion!
DK: What has been the importance of branding and marketing yourself in the adult industry?
Lea: This is an aspect that I am constantly trying to improve on. It has been a new concept for me since I moved to the United States and this year I am focusing a lot more on it. I have seen the way the public reacted to me and I am going to build the best platform for them to watch me and interact with me.
DK: What is the importance of Social Media including Twitter to your career?
Lea: Twitter is fun. It allows me to create a bit of a connection with my loyal fans and followers. I don’t obsess over it, but it’s great to be able to share little things about me other than my scenes.
DK: Have your family and friends been supportive of your move into porn? If so, how did you break it to them?
Lea: It was surprising for me how accepting of it they were. It was an awkward but a simple conversation over coffee. I have always been very independent and as soon as I made it clear that I am safe and very much aware of what exactly I am doing it was good. We never really talk details, and I do that out of respect.
DK: What are you thoughts on the Internet? Do you think it’s helping or destroying the porn industry?
Lea: We can’t deny that the Internet is basically the future for all entertainment categories: film, music, games and so on. The music and film industry have suffered from Internet piracy and it was only a matter of time before the porn industry took a big hit, but it’s only forcing us to reinvent and improve. Porn would not be the billion-dollar industry that it is without the Internet. We now need to come up with innovative methods of delivering our content.
DK: What is something people don’t know about you?
Lea: I am an excellent cook!
