Retired porn star Kelley Jean is currently a pop/techno singer who joined the Tight as a lead singer. Dave Kingsley of Orgasm News talked to the multi-talented artist about Tight, and both her singing and radio-host careers.

 

Dave Kingsley: You joined Tight last year replacing Monica Mayhem as lead singer. How has your experience been adjusting to the band?

Kelley Jean: It’s been completely fine, I fit right in with them. I learned the material before we met!

 

DK: Tight won the Howard Stern XXX Factor competition this year. How was the competition? Did you have a chance to spend time with Howard Stern? If so, what was he like?

Kelley: We had 3 other people competing against us. Each with very unique talents (one girl smoked a cigarette with her vagina. I swear I even saw smoke rings!) We did not formally meet Howard but he was pure joy in the studio! The whole crew was great.

 

You have a pretty good voice. Did you have any previous  vocal experience?

Kelley: I was involved with musical theater since the age of 9. I trained with 2 vocal coaches, and even learned how to sing classical opera. A few years back I began writing and recording dance/electronic music, and then my musical journey led me to TIGHT! I have always been a rocker at heart.

 

Who are your musical influences?

Kelley: Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Robert Plant

 

You’re also known for your interviews for DetroitDungeon.com. What was your favorite person to interview? Why?

Kelley: I interviewed my dad and his band, so of course that would be my favorite, but in the same night I also got to interview Eddie Money, he was a charmer. Great guy.

 

When you replaced Monica, did you have to beat out any other girls for the leader singer position?

Kelley: There were no formal auditions, so I am not sure who I had to beat. The producers know, but I don’t. I am glad I beat them though! I basically recorded a demo for them and emailed it. They loved it.

 

All the girls in the band are involved in porn. What’s been your connection to the adult film industry?

Kelley: I did adult films for 3 years. This was quite a long time ago. I really enjoyed myself and loved the people I met and had a lot of fun while doing them, but ‘retired’ back in 2006 in order to run my 2 businesses (I own a talent agency and a party bus company.)

 

DK: What has the response to Tight been like?

Kelley: We have loyal fans of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages and sexual preference! We adore our fans.
