Playboy Fined $160,000 For Allowing Minors Access To Porn
Playboy has been fined $160,000 (£100,000) for not properly securing access to their adult content after allowing users of their websites to confirm their age with debit cards instead of Credit Cards, which is restricted to card holders 18 years of age and older.
The two websites, Playboy TV and Adult Demand, were fined by UK broadcast media regulator Ofcom in the amounts of £35,000 ($56,000) and £65,000 ($104,000) respectfully. Playboy TV recieving the lesser fine because the content displayed was of a less graphic nature.
“We concluded that Playboy’s failure to protect children from potentially accessing these sites was serious, repeated and reckless,”
In 2011, Playboy was also fined £110,000 ($175,000) for displaying commercials that displayed presenters enticing viewers with sexual gestures presented on screen.
