As Apple expanded its global reach and the iTunes Store software launched into an additional 56 countries world wide, no one expected what would happen in Russia as an unexpected line of code allowed users to view pornography and even order “Porn Star Escorts” over the stores interface.

The problems began to occur on the launch date of December 4, 2012, as temporary placement links were dropped into place. The links were expected to be dormant however the link of xxx.xxx is very real. Users were shocked to discover a home page loaded with pornographic images and links. Soon after Twitter was flooded with claims of Apples big mistake.

Steve Jobs was notoriously known for his anti pornography stance of porn being offered on Apple devices, and once even being quoted as saying “We do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy [an] Android phone.”
